Are you wondering how to buy Ethereum? I’m glad you’re here! In this post, I’ll show you exactly how to buy Ethereum (or Ether more better known as) instantly. You don’t have to be a Jedi master or a computer science geek to do this. No technical experience required.

This guide contains the best ways to buy Ethereum in an easy and simple format.

Heads up!

The absolute best way to keep your Ethereum safe is by keeping it in a hardware wallet. Try and get that if you can. 🙂

How to Buy Ethereum (Ether): 5 Ways

1. Coinbase

Coinbase would have to be the easiest (and also the safest) way you can buy Ethereum.

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Jersey, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom.

(that’s a lot)

The fees amount to 3.75%

Payment Methods

You can instantly buy Ether (ETH) using your credit card/debit using your Credit Card or your Debit Card.

You can also use your bank account to buy Ether but the bummer is that it may take around 4-5 business days for it to work out.

FAQ: What about selling my Ether on Coinbase?

The absolute best and also quickest way you can sell your Ether in Coinbase is using your PayPal account. It’s instant.

Here’s a great guide on how to add your PayPal account to Coinbase.

You can also use your bank account but then again it takes anywhere 4-5 business days to process.

FAQ: Is Coinbase safe?

Yes but it’s best if you can get a hardware wallet to store your Ether. But rest assured Coinbase is safe and insured which will cover your losses if they were to ever be breached.

The only downside I’ve had and so many others is the customer support. It can be slow sometimes due to congestion of users on Coinbase.

2. Gemini

You remember those twins who got screwed over by Mark Zuckerberg for Facebook in the movie Social Network?

Yeah. The Winklevoss twins started Gemini and I must say Gemini is probably the best place to buy your Ethereum.

United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Puerto Rico, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Singapore.

The fees amount to 0.25%

Which is absolutely amazing!

FAQ: What is the difference between Coinbase and Gemini

Coinbase is a broker, Gemini is an exchange.

You buy/sell directly from a broker with no ability to trade on their platform.

You open an account and deposit money into an exchange to trade on an open market.

If you’re looking to quickly buy cryptocurrency or you want to use a credit card/debit card, Coinbase is the option for you.

If you want to save the most on fees, Gemini is the best option.

Gemini has both an exchange and a quick buy/sell method which works great both ways. 🙂

Payment methods

You can buy Ether only by depositing your Gemini account via a bank transfer. Now you don’t have to wait 3-4 business days for your deposit to be cleared to only then buy your Ether, you can instantly buy it!

Though when you need to withdraw the Ether that you just bought, you’ll need to have your bank transfer (the deposit that you made earlier) to be cleared which that will take around 3-4 business days.

FAQ: Help! I am confused 🙁

It’s alright. I was confused too at first but I learnt a lot by asking questions and addressing my concerns with their fast and amazing customer support. 🙂

Gemini is one of the safest cryptocurrency exchanges though that is not to say Gemini will not ever be susceptible to breaches.

Gemini is just as safe as Coinbase but keeping your cryptocoins again is riskier on Gemini because it’s easier to breach an exchange (it’s been happened before too).

Also the lack of payment options which are only limited to bank transfers and wire transfers and not credit cards/debit cards can it make less of a proposition if you’re planning to rely on the latter.

3. Luno

This is my probably one of my favorite places to buy my Ether (or Bitcoin) and I have heard so many great reviews about Luno both online and from my friends and family.

Luno is just like Coinbase, it’s lightning fast, beginner-friendly, and robust.

Europe, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria and South Africa.

The fees are free or either super cheap.

Withdrawal fees are EUR 0.30 and Deposit fees are Free.

Payment Methods

You can buy Ether only by depositing your Luno account via a bank transfer.

The bank transfer has been quick and so far it has taken me around 30 minutes to get my Luno account deposited.

FAQ: Is Luno Safe?

Yes and one of the safest too.

They take security very seriously and they use what they call a deep freeze storage which are multi-signature wallets, with the private keys stored in different bank vaults.

They also maintain a multi signature hot wallet to facilitate instant Ether/Bitcoin withdrawals.

FAQ: How is the Customer Service of Luno?

They have a decent support which have been quick and friendly to address my requests and I have never had a problem with them.

The response time has been anywhere 15 mins to 30 mins for me. 🙂

Just the lack of payment options which are only limited to bank transfers and not credit cards/debit cards can it make less of a proposition if you’re planning to rely on the latter.

Also it is not available in the US as of yet.

4.  Coinmama

This is another simple, quick and widely available cryptocurrency service that focuses on speed of transactions and making sure that you get your Ether (or Bitcoins) instantly.

Coinmama is pretty similar to that of both Coinbase and Luno in that it is a quick buy/sell process for Ether or Bitcoins.

Coinmama is available in almost every country in the world

Here’s the entire list of all the 217 countries.

The fees amount to 6% when you use your credit card/debit card which is pretty high when compared to the other options.

Payment Methods

You can use your credit card/debit card to buy Ether or Bitcoin.

You can also use cash when you choose Western Union as the method of payment.

FAQ: Is CoinMama safe?

Yes it is and that’s because CoinMama is one of the oldest cryptocurrency services to be in the game.

They are reputable and they do work hard to try to maintain the trust of all their long time customers.

Other than that not much anywhere on their insurance or other security measures they have taken up to protect all their cryptocurrency.

They also do not offer two factor authentication for your account which is quiet risky.

FAQ: How is the Customer Service of Coinmama?

Not much can I say, personally, but most of the users are saying they’re happy with the support that they have received and have had no problems.

If you can look past the super high fees for credit carddebit card purchases that Coinmama charges you then overall it looks like a great solid option alongside the other quick buysell Methods like Coinbase, Luno etc above.

Also the lack of transparency on the security measures and methods that they have taken to protect their users’ crypto investment is quiet unnerving.

I was reluctant to add to this list (you’ll know why as you read on) but the reason why I did add this is because is beginner-friendly, quick and most importantly widely available in almost every country in the world. is another cryptocurrency exchange (just like Gemini) but it also has a quick buy/sell Method too (just like Coinbase) which really puts up a fight to be the one of the top ways to buy your cryptocurrency like Ether.

Countries is available in every country in the world.

However there are a few restrictions (payment methods wise) on some countries.

Fees has both an exchange (like Gemini) and an easy buy/sell process like Coinbase.

The fees to use their exchange is 0.2% which is all not that bad but it does get worse from there.

The fees to use their easy buy/sell method amount to 7% which is charged from the amount of fiat currency (like US Dollar, Euros, British Pound etc.) you pay. For example when you buy $1000 of Bitcoins then you’ll only get $930 worth.

Fees when you deposit using your credit card amount to 3.9% (and Free on bank transfers).

Fees when you withdraw using your credit card amount to $3.8 + 1.2% (and $50 for bank transfers)

This the reason why I hesitated to add in this list because they have a lot of hidden fees, and it’s the biggest reason most people avoid it.

I recommend you go for any of the other services like Coinbase, Gemini, Luno or Coinmama if those are available in your country.

FAQ: Is safe?

Yes is safe but they are not insured unlike Coinbase or Gemini which means if they were to ever be breached then chances are you’re not going to get your crytocurrency back.

It’s an exchange so it’s best if you don’t store your cryptocurrency in your wallet.

Payment Methods

Unlike Gemini, you can use your credit card/debit card to buy or sell Ether or any other crytocurrency instantly.

You also have the option of a bank transfer but it may take anywhere 1-3 business days.

FAQ: How is the Customer Service of

The customer support has so far been great, and I have not had any problems with them as of yet.

But there are others who have been displeased with the response time of their customer service.

For me, they’ve been fast and they responded within 20 seconds when I had dropped them a message the other day

The fees. Honestly. If the other cryptocurrency services are available in your country then go for that.

If not, only then should you go for

The only reason why I added is because if none of the above is not available in your country then at least you still have that one last solid option.

Share this guide with your family and friends and help them make the best decision when they invest in Ethereum. 🙂
